The second edition of the Tracks4Crafts Video Contest has once again showcased the creativity, talent, and passion of craftspeople.
After careful evaluation by the jury composed of representatives from the European Crafts Alliance (ECA) and Bokrijk, the winner of the 2025 edition has been announced: Twan Boumans, founder of Van Harthout, a woodcraft company based in the Netherlands.
Turning Passion into Purpose
Twan’s journey into craftsmanship began in an unexpected place. After experiencing burnout in his previous career as an engineer, he decided to follow his passion for woodworking - a decision that has since transformed his life. Today, he designs and handcrafts furniture with a strong sense of authenticity and sustainability, guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy:
“When you love what you do, it’s visible in the quality of the product.”
His video captivated the jury with its clarity and heartfelt message. The visual storytelling and his narrative resonated deeply with the contest’s spirit - showing how craftsmanship can be both a personal journey and a social statement. His forward-thinking sustainable approach to the future of craft and perspective beautifully reflects the Tracks4Crafts mission - blending tradition and innovation, and ensuring the craft sector remains dynamic, connected, and sustainable.
Twan’s background in Sustainable Energy Technologies also shines through his work. His furniture pieces are not only designed for beauty and functionality but are created with a deep respect for materials, processes, and the environment - values that are central to a new generation of craftspeople.

“When we received the news that my wife (co-founder) and I had won the Tracks4Craft video contest we were incredibly happy!! At the same time it felt surreal and difficult to believe.
Van Harthout is still a young company. Less than 3 years ago, I decided to change my
career completely, take a leap of faith and dedicate myself fully to design and handcrafting furniture. It was a bold move, but winning this award gives us the recognition and affirmation that we are on the right track, not only in what we do, but also in how we do it: through our approach and core values.
Finally, winning this award marks the beginning of a new adventure that we are so excited to start. It’s a great compliment, and while the future remains unknown, we are genuinely excited for what lies ahead.”, commented Twan after being informed about the win.
